Every episode, there is a murder, or often multiple murders! It is quite exciting and fast paced with lots of twists in the tale - you never know what is going to happen next. His task is to solve the murders and arrest the murderer before another murder is committed (Ok that was quite obvious). Often, they burst in on the murderer just as he/she is about to murder another innocent being.
The series is set in Oxford and often has something to do with the Oxford colleges. Morse's senior is Thursday who reports to a rather scary man with glasses who I have temporarily forgotten the name of... There is also a rather snooty man - Sergeant Jakes - who always thinks he is right, but usually is wrong.
Last night's episode was about a strangler who raped married women whose husbands were working away from home. He strangled them with a particular type of stocking which had cats at the top - this was important as it indicated that all the murders were committed by the same person.
There was also a sub-story about Inspector Thursday's love affair with an Italian lady who he had had relations with in the preceeding war (I think the second world war). He realised that he should stop seeing this lady - Mrs Armstrong (widow) - because it was his 25th Wedding Anniversary with his wife, Win. We saw their wedding anniversary party, which had to be interrupted because of the case, but they did some dancing later on. Mrs Armstrong committed suicide. :(
Endeavor also took a big step because he realised that he loved the kind nurse who lived opposite him and so he asked her out on a date and slept with her....Then he picked her up at midnight on Bonfire Night so that they could go and see the fireworks after her shift but they ended up kissing on a nearby bench...At the end, they kissed again and agreed to have another date (can't wait for next week - the last episode in the series...I do hope there is another series).
By the way, if you were wondering, the person who killed the housewives was the delivery man from the store Burridges in Oxford who had delivered to them all in previous days. A large clue was the chalk left on the walls from the boxes of appliances delivered...
So that was basically that episode but I await next week's with such anticipation that I am, probably, likely to explooode!!!
Endeavour Morse and his new girlfriend - Monica.
